Tat Tales......Of Woe and Not So Woe

So i was browsing around on youtube and i found some interesting stuff. I was looking at peircings and tattoos. This post might not be for the faint of heart so if certain things make you sick, I'm sorry! I found this subject really interesting.

EYEBALL TATTOOING

For those of us who want the white part of our eyeball to be a different colour, such as black, red or blue, this is for you. I watched the procedure on Youtube and it's quite intense. A person has their eyeball held open and then someone VERY CAREFULLY inserts a needle with ink and gently puts a little bit of colour on the area underneath the surface. As a person blinks the dye/ink is spread around by itself. This form of tattooing is highly dangerous and one slip with the needle could leave the person getting the tattoo blind. The technical name for eyeball tattooing is CORNEAL TATTOOING. Dangers associated with this procedure are blood vessels, perforation, hemorrhaging or infection. A man in Toronto was one of the first people to have this done and it took up to 40 injections to get his cornea the colour he wanted and for the white to be completely covered.

My Take – Wow! Some people are really ramping up the body modifications. I'm not sure what look people are trying to convey by doing this but different is sure it. Seeing people with different coloured corneas would make you look twice at a person. Maybe they want to be different or they have personal motives that are driving them to such enhancements. All i know is that i would never undergo this procedure. The fact that someone would have to hold my eyeball open so that it would be ready to receive a needle several times gives me the willies. Not something that i will ever see myself doing. The dangers are enough to scare me permanently as well as drive me away from even considering this minute figment of someone else's imagination. For those that are considering this, i'm not knocking it i'm just saying Holy shit you're brave!

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

This is a procedure people get when they want to get rid of a tattoo for many reasons. The procedure sounds very creepy. It's like a klacker constantly going off and crazy speeds. This procedure says that it can get rid of any tattoo in any colour of ink. The light from the laser breaks down the tattoo particles into smaller sizes so that the body can emit them. It is suggested that there is little risk of scarring or damage. The sensation is compared to that of a quick snap by a rubber band.

My Take – Ouch! The sound of burning my skin off just to remove a past mistake is as likely as me getting my eyeball tattoo'd. Reading suggests that this isn't supposed to hurt but most people getting it done are using numbing creme and grimacing like the area that is getting done is going to fall off. For those that have big tattoos that they want removed it's going to take more then 1 session for it to be fully gone. Ya right....... going back every 6-8 weeks multiple times does not sound like pleasure. I can understand that it provides a person a second chance or a restart. It takes away the past. People are made to wear goofy glasses to protect their eyes but it's more like the doctor really wants to make them look like an ass so that they remember not to get a tattoo they will regret. Cruel and unusual punishment some might say.

So this is what i spent my time looking up this afternoon and informing myself about. It was interesting but scary. As much as i may dislike a tattoo i would never get it removed. I love all my tattoos but one. It's a little dark and doesn't look like what i wanted it but that's my fault not the tattoo artists. Some people say that it looks like a pentagram (which is a sign of witches). My reasoning for getting it was i wanted it to match my one anklet tattoo and also have a star in it. My friend said that if i was going to be in her wedding that i would have to get a special creme to cover it up because she would not that in her wedding pictures. Originally i said yes i would agree to it but then i thought about it. It doesn't bother me much at all. It's there but i don't notice it anymore because i have had it so long. Then i started to think that if said friend didn't like any of my tats would she want me to cover them all up. Alas the wedding fell through. I decided that if she was going to want me to wear this cover up creme that she was going to buy it because i don't care about it that much and if it bothered her so much then that was fine. It was a thing of my sporadic/impulsive past. Sure it doesn't look like what i wanted but it could definitely be a lot worse. The one thing about each and every one of my tattoos is that they remind me of a story or a time in my life. All tattoos should have a reason or story. Something that when you look at them speaks you as their canvas that they have decorated. Art has many meanings to people. That's the best part is that it's private and personal, yet creative and wonderful......ah the life of a tattoo!

I'm Back!!!!!!!!

Dear Reader,
A long time it has been. I went on vacay to the Cayman Islands, which I now refer to as Paradise. So many things to see and do there. I wanted to try a lot of new things, ex. Various types of food, go around the shops, and mainly have fun. I was lucky to get a right hand drive automatic vehicle which I proudly named Civy, because he was a 4 banger Honda Civic. By the end of the trip I liked driving him so much that I would consider getting one for home but that's not going to happen. Food I tried was incredible for a picky eater such as myself. I tried Brazilian, Indian, various types of seafood, and a favourite restaurant that we frequented was Ala Kebab. For this I have my best friend to thank, if it weren't for her letting me stay with her and experience such great tastes and flavours, I could have very well lived on Pizza Hut and Burger King (by the ocean) for the duration of the trip. Memoirable moments include: the trip to the turtle farm, visiting Hell, meeting new people, dancing and partying like a rockstar, and last but not least getting to see my dear friend in her element living a lifestyle that would make most jealous. I will admit that Hell was a bit odd, and there was something about the karma that was exuded from the place, but it was a great sight to see just the same. The weather was completely and utterly incredible, it only rained the last day and the amount was equal to that of a light spit. I never thought or considered how safe I would feel on a Carribean Island, there have been some bad stories in the news as of recent but it was almost like being at home. Sure the stray dogs was upsettig because I love my canine friends a lot but that's just the way it is down there. I got another tattoo, which if you are a hardcore follower of my blog, you won't find that surprising at all. It's a palm tree with “CAYMAN 2009” underneath. I had to get it named and dated because it was my first big trip off the continent and I will always remember it now, no matter what. I can't see myself forgetting it though because it was fabu. Two observations that I made, one, the menthol cigarettes for women are called Vogues and they are very much like a skinny Popeye Candy Cigarette. I was a trooper and tried them several times but they were no comparison to my brand from home. Second, the island is party central. Everyone drinks, everyone mingles and dances, and mainly everyone is constantly aiming for a good time. Sure I met some guys that would be a bomb to do ANYTHING with but they were off limits for good reasons. The sad part is that the trip went by so fast, it was like I arrived and was just getting ready to leave. I left with my girlfriend singing to me the song LUCKY which I am constantly listening to here. A parting gift that I will never forget. A good time was had by all, and yet again I send a ginormous thank you out to my dear friend that let me stay with her and experience her fun and different lifestyle.

Updates, Get Your Updates!!!!

Sorry for the blurriness but i tried my best, you can still sort of read it.

It's a bit messy but you get the idea of what i got.

Dear Reader, I am writing to update you on a few things.

1. My mum and I had a girls day out, it was really nice since we are starting to get along much better nowadays. I decided that I was going to get a tattoo today because my friend Jamie “Grazzhopper” Lindsay, just bought the tattoo shop so it was my way of saying congrats to him. I got a little star that’s blue border with a hollow inside. I took a picture of it myself but it doesn’t look the greatest, but I will get my mum to take a better shot tomorrow. I have also included Jamie’s business card in case anyone in the area wants to get a tat by him. We then finished the aft. off with a nice lunch at 66 on Brock, my fav. place to eat. It was a great aft. Thanx Mum!

2. I finished my career assessment testing on Thursday of this week. It wasn’t as weird as the last bunch of questions, no sexual questions at all this time. Phewwwwwww. This time it was all timed though, and there were at least 7 different tests I had to do. The only test that I didn’t complete within the time limit was the math questions but that’s ok I hate math anyway. Now I will get to see what my true potential jobs might be instead of the testing we did in class that told me I was to be a gunsmith, magician or furniture upholsterer.

3. Watched Apocalypto, a film directed by Mel Gibson. Now I don’t really like Mel Gibson himself and I don’t like that he chooses movies to direct that are based on history because the story is already written basically, it’s how he chooses to interpret it, BUT PASSION OF THE CHRIST was amazing and I really liked it (and I’m not even religious) I was looking forward to see how this movie would do. This movie is gory, probably one of the goriest that I have seen in a while but that’s not what gets the watcher. It’s the fact that the movie has an amazing story. It’s about a warrior that ends up being captured by ‘bad guys’ and sent to sacrifice but when he is about to be sacrificed a solar eclipse happens and saves him from his doom. He then has to play a HUNT type of game where he is the hunted, that lasts for quite a good portion of the movie but it is really interesting and suspenseful. As usual I am not going to tell you the ending because then you wouldn’t watch it. Take note there are no famous stars in it and that’s a major plus. This is probably one of my favourite movies of the year so far and I highly recommend it.

4. Watched Letters From Iwo Jima, a film by Clint Eastwood, who also directed Flags of Our Fathers. I really liked this film because it made me realize what the Japanese had to go through in a losing battle situation. The movie stars Ken Watanabe, who has such movies as Last Samurai and Memoirs of a Geisha in his repertoire as well as some indie films. This man I cannot say enough times, how fabulous an actor he is. In this film he plays the smart General that tries to convince the people already on the island of Iwo Jima that if they plan to have all their people on the beach, the battle will be over before it begins. He is the one that convinces them to hide in tunnels in the hills and such, a type of guerilla warfare if you will. The Japanese in the movie are very people oriented, ex. a general shoots an American and then brings him into the hidey hole and has him tended to so that he does not die, when the soldier is coherent he then begins to tell him that he competed in the Olympics in the USA that year as a horseback rider, they shake hands and make peace. The one specific thing about this movie was that it really showed that there was mass confusion behind the Japanese lines. The mainland offered no help by sending reinforcements, tanks, or planes, they basically had to fight the battle with what they had. The story is incredible and really gets to the watcher as you see these men trying their best to stay alive when commanders are often trying to commit suicide because they know the mission is a bust. The one thing that is noticeable is that these men fight to try and get back to home to their wives and families, a true inspiration to get them through the war. Clint Eastwood did it again with another fabulous film but on the other side, showing what the Japanese had to go through, and what trials and tribulations they had to suffer.

5. We got a call from our cattle liaison today and he is going to be bringing us a shipment of cows on Sunday. He bought 3 cows that are due to give birth within the next 2 months which is right about when Bigguh is to give birth. These cows may be a slight bit darker because they have more Simmental (the red coloured cows) in them then Charolais (the beige cows) but I figure that might mean they are the fawn or light brown colour which is really nice. I can’t wait to see them. The cattle liaison also told dad that cow prices are high so if per chance we had sold Bigguh(which we would never do), she would have gone for between $1500 – $1700. Pretty surprising huh!
