Roger Varley asks AM I WRONG?.....Hell Yes!

There was an article in the local paper by a columnist that got to me yesterday and today i am writing about it. Not only did he label all young people in the town of Uxbridge yahoos and hooligans but he was offensive to the police, (yeah i know i just wrote that). If he is allowed to hold such a public forum where he can say whatever he wants shouldn't he be a little bit tactful in how he chooses to phrase things. He mentioned two incidents which he stated the people of the stores did not want to be named for fear of reprisal but then he goes into such detail, if the kids that caused the problems read this they might send a back lash.... gee thanks fellow columnist! School has just gotten back in, the kids are getting back into routine after summer and all this guy can do is complain about noise and people blocking entrances to doorways. I'm not defending the local youth by any means, sure they can be trouble, any kids can be trouble, hell i can still be trouble if i want to! Does it mean that we paint people with the same brush and a bright colour to warn us of their presence....NO! This columnist makes a huge issue about noise complaints he has made at 10:30.... I live in an apartment building and the noise curfew is in act but at 11:30, so I wonder if the streets possess the same policy. Being worried about a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds on their bikes, skateboards and scooters sounds a little ridiculous if you ask me. Then mentioning how there is litter all over the place, well i'm sorry dear columnist but the litter isn't just from those 'hooligans' as he so kindly put it, it's from lazy people in general that don't want to make use of the garbage bins. I know people of all ages guilty of that crime, so it's really unfair to say that the young people are littering the area. Not only has this columnist's opinions and one-sided comments opened up people that he was referring to in his article "namelessly" for trouble but he has also broadened the spectrum to include himself. When are people going to stop being age-discriminate and stop labeling people of a particular catergory. We are all people that deserve a modicum of respect and a chance to be ourselves. Since when did such 'freedoms' get taken away by those who are older then us.
